In this article I will be giving some basic tips to improve your websites performance in yahoo and Google, which are the market leaders in search engines.
As an example we will be using a car body repair website, so first things first you will need to set your page title, this will need to be descriptive to your site so our car body repair site will have a title “Car Body Repairs and smart repairs Hertfordshire and Essex” this title is descriptive of what the site does and where it is based. The next thing to do is set your Meta tag description.
The Meta tag description is what is displayed by the search engines when your website is displayed on one of these pages. It should be no more than 200 words long and needs to be a brief summary of that page. So for our car body repair site we will use the Meta tag description:
“Car Body Repairs offer a mobile car body repair service in the Hertfordshire and Essex areas. We can fix and repair most car body damage such as bumper scuffs, key scratches, stone chips, dented panels, cracked bumpers, panel resprays and seat burns.”
As you can see in the Meta description certain words are repeated in the description as in the title, this will only help in the website optimisation. The final stage is the keywords.
Keywords are words which you wish to be found by when someone searches on one of the search engines for the type of business that you do. For example our site “Car Body Repairs” the keywords would be: Car Body Repairs, Smart Repairs, Hertfordshire, and Essex, Bumper scuffs, Key scratches, Stone chips and seat burns. These keywords are essential and you made need to change them from time to time till you have the best keywords to match your page. Another way to find out which keywords are best for you is to use the words that are most popular on that page; generally they will be the best words to use.
